ABOUT NALOXONE

Naloxone (i.e. Narcan or Evzio) is safe for use but may cause some opioid withdrawal symptoms. Naloxone is approved for use in people of all ages, including adults, children, and newborns. Naloxone is recommended to save the life of a pregnant person. Anyone, especially people who are pregnant and children, should seek medical care following the use of Naloxone. 
 
Symptoms of opioid withdrawal include: 
  • body aches
  • diarrhea
  • fast heart rate
  • runny nose or sneezing
  • fever
  • goose bumps
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • trembling
  • stomach cramps
  • feeling restless or irritable
  • increased blood pressure
